Werewolf: The Savage Age; Building the Shadow Elves.

One of the emergent enemies in the Savage Age series are the new Shadow Elves. The easiest way to explain them is... dimensional horror movie monster... things.
The Weaponized Ink team didn't really have a direction to go with these.
So, I was tasked to make them work.
I think I did OK.

You can see the results here!: https://www.storytellersvault.com/product/366852/Tribebook-Urkama

When originally tasked with this design, I assumed it was based on this little guy, a villain we had been using for Tribebook Urkama.

So, I made a more human version, something we could play with. I likened him to more mobile "Thing", which could morph it's body into weapons. I like the idea of an internal glow illuminating his nigh unstoppable attacks.

I sketched out the proposed "Dreamstealer" piece....
And it was shot down. Hard.
"We don't know what we want, but it's not this!"
Ok. I get it.

I tossed together some ideas for them to look at and choose from. It helps people figure things out when they have options.
I added a few filler ones in.
Here's a lesson for you; Don't do that...

...because they chose the filler one.
Oh great.
How the hell do I make THIS work?

I spent about a week making sketches trying to refine the Filler into something workable.
While Savage Age is Heavy Metal, we used Progressive Metal to try and define these guys. It helped me define where he needed to go.

Head choices were given, and made.

And this is where we ended up.
He fits what they needed, and is a pretty good design overall. You could take this anywhere and it'd work.

And the final piece.
I tried to make it feel almost like a really well made Twilight Zone frame. Just enough creepy, just enough scary.
