Werewolf: The Savage Age, Tribe Book Wlewa

Werewolf: The Savage Age does these side books called Tribebooks that expand on the various Were-Species within the setting, each with it's own unique art and mechanics.
This is the cover for Tribebook Wlewa, the Cave Lion were species.
Pretty simple cover, really, just make the Cave Lion the hero of the piece. She's pretty badass, too.

While we had done Cave Lions before, they were smaller pieces without any real direction. So Weaponized Ink sat down and hashed out just who they were for the book.
This sketch is basically where we landed.

Tribebook Wlewa sketch.
I try to aim for a "heavy metal" feeling on all Savage Age covers, so I went for an action based, violent take.

Tribebook Wlewa, inks w/ cover layout.
I quite like our cover girl here, her attitude just oozes off the page for me.

Tribebook Wlewa, inks proper.
Honestly, once I'm happy with how the inks turn out, everything else is icing on the cake.

Tribebook Wlewa, final.
Simple action lines background, the foreground was busy enough and anything more would have muddied things.
